Broadway, New York is the birthplace of yet another hit show, Disney’s The Lion King, as it continues its successful run with the next limited production to be performed on Friday 7th November 2025 in Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre, found in Denver, Colorado. With magnificent architecture and design set up both inside and outside the previously stated location, audiences have stated that Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre continues to be one of their favorite show venues for the longest time.
The Lion King tells the tale of growth of a little lion cub named Simba, who is next in line to lead as the King of the Pride Lands following his father. The African savanna however is filled with secrecy and internal strife, as even in this innocent and easygoing musical, tragedy comes when the young prince's father Mufasa is murdered because of the intent of his evil uncle Scar, who wishes to take over as King of the Pride Lands. The immature prince chooses to escape the Pride Lands and goes into hiding for much of his early childhood. While away in the forest, he runs into new companions, Timon and Pumbaa, who live a worry-free lifestyle and influence him to do the same. the young prince's happy-go-lucky mindset then turns upside down when Simba once again meets his childhood confidant Nala, who encourages him to return to the Pride Lands and requests him to retake his rightful place as king.
This heartfelt and personal narrative of tragedy, strong bonds, and fearless leadership is amplified by the original film's music, created by Elton John and Tim Rice. Their original songs, supplemented with added music and lyrics from other composers such as Zimmer, Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, and director Julie Taymor have contributed to the immense success of The Lion King not just in local performances, but also in international productions.
The Disney stage adaptation began on July 8, 1997, at the Orpheum theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The musical took the theater world by storm and set a standard for contemporary theater, leading to the musical's move and beginnings on the Broadway stage on October 15, 1997. Still running for more than two decades since its premiere, don’t miss the opportunity to see the third longest-running musical from Broadway, New York as it arrives in Colorado.
