Ever since Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, alongside esteemed playwrights Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, created ‘The Sound Of Music’, it became clear that it has been destined for worldwide triumphs.

No musical can come close to ‘The Sound Of Music’ when it comes to the large amount of much adored hits it contains; no musical has ever been able to maintain relevance and adoration for as long as as ‘The Sound Of Music’; and a tale as wonderful, yet filled with major social issues, is yet to be created.

To date, ‘The Sound Of Music’ has been rekindled numerous times - all to much acclaim. Since its premiere in 1959, it has received five Tony Awards, a Theatre World Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Special Award, alongside many nominations. ‘The Sound Of Music’ has also been adapted into an award-winning film featuring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, still being enjoyed to this day.

‘The Sound Of Music’, inspired by Maria von Trapp’s ‘The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, follows the tale of Maria, a free-spirited nun, who after being appointed as the governess of the seven children of Captain Georg von Trapp, brings back music and happiness to the family. The family is faced with many troubles - from the imminent Nazi-threat brought about by the Anschluss to the romance brewing between Captain von Trapp - an engaged-to-be-married man, and Maria, a nun.

There is no doubt that there is plenty to love about ‘The Sound Of Music’: from the incredible stagecraft of the oldest nun right down to the youngest Von Trapp child, to the ageless, wonderful music that can get even the most ardent naysayer to hum along; from the rich orchestrations to the stunningly handcrafted sets that float effortlessly from a grey cathedral to the old Austrian splendour of the Von Trapp house; from the heartwarming tale about overcoming difficulty and an innocent love that blooms like the Edelweiss itself|delightful tale of love, resilience, and music|celebrated tale that has been teaching the world to sing and believe in love and music for decades} to the highly talented cast that embodies their roles with perfection, masterfully delivers the much-adored music, and steals hearts from the first notes.

They were right: the world is indeed alive with ‘The Sound Of Music’.
