PLOT

Belle becomes a hostage in a strange large castle after saving her father from being held captive there. Her father Maurice only wished to bring home a rose from the castle’s large rose bushes. Now, she must deal with the castle’s Beast, a large cruel creature. Turns out, Beast was once a handsome prince who values people based on appearances until he encountered an enchantress who cursed him into becoming this horrid creature for life until he finds true love. BACKGROUND

The production was staged in 1994 when Disney CEO Michael Esner saw the potential of staging musicals based on Disney films. Beauty and the Beast was officially the first Disney film adapted into a stage setting. The success behind the project paved the way for Disney Theatrical Production which opened doors for upcoming theater masterpieces like Lion King, Frozen, and more. Beauty and the Beast opened on Broadway in 1994 and later toured across the globe. It is also Broadway’s 6th longest running musical. The production brought in the amazing talents of book writer Linda Wooverton who also co-wrote the film.
