A Broadway icon, Billy Porter is one of those very few personalities who succeeded in theatre, film, music, fashion, and entertainment. In fact, he is one win away from being one of the very few EGOTs, personalities who have won the four coveted major awards, namely the Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards, Oscars (Academy Awards), and Tony Awards. He is notable for his role in the hit Broadway musical "Kinky Boots," wherein he played the iconic role of a drag queen named Lola. The role landed Porter a Tony award in 2013 for "Best Leading Actor in a Musical."
In 2019, Porter also made history as the first openly gay black man to snatch an Emmy win as "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series" for playing an important role in the monumental series "Pray Tell on Pose." This victory opened the door for Porter to play the iconic role of the Fabulous Godmother in the 2021 live-action adaptation of Cinderella. Simultaneously, he produced uplifting club anthems like "Love Yourself" (2019) and "Children" (2021).
Now Porter focuses on his music and is embarking on his first headlining tour. Dubbed the "Black Mona Lisa Tour," the trek will kick off at the Paramount Theatre Seattle on April 29. In a true Billy Porter fashion, the tour's shows will feature a full band and a video installation that will highlight the multi-hyphenate star's life through significant songs from his Broadway roles, films, and pop solo career. Catch his Denver, Colorado, stop at the Buell Theatre on May 2.
