The curtains will open to show Baltimore resident Tracy Turnblad, the plucky, curvy high school student that has ambitions and a soul that are larger than her her dress size.
The story starts - It is 1962 and Tracy has dreams of starring on the local TV dance program, The Corny Collins Show, but is met with no, it won’t happen. Yet, Tracy proves people wrong and after getting a role in the show with her plucky boldness and swinging hips and becoming a local icon overnight. But she learns that there are prejudices in her hometown that she won’t abide. What will ensue when Tracy and her friends and family fight against the wrongs in their town?
