The Buell Theatre
Broadway fan or not, audiences in Colorado now have another reason to be excited, as The Book of Mormon will be having a production in Denver, available at The Buell Theatre on Friday 9th May 2025. Witness top-level comedy from watching the production of the same creators of South Park and the musical Avenue Q.
The Book of Mormon is a musical about the way religion is taught, specifically of the assignment given to Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, who through original techniques, pull out all stops to convert villagers of a local village in Uganda. This Tony Award-winning musical, that has gone on to have successful stagings in the U.S., London, and Australia, running for more than a decade to date, unmasks the way religious stories are told, with comedy through classical theatre and showtunes.

The Buell Theatre
Well-known as one of the unrivaled theatre venues in Denver, The Buell Theatre has always been the top choice as a play or show venue, especially due to its smashing interior and exterior architecture that is both practical and beautiful. The musical comedy will be staged for a limited time in The Buell Theatre in May, on Friday 9th May 2025.
Robert Lopez, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone, once again created another comedy masterpiece but in an entirely new medium for them. This time being in in classical theatre. The Book of Mormon, centered on Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, two Mormon missionaries of the Mormon faith, are assigned to baptize and convert the local villagers of a village in Uganda. The show, however serious it may sound, delves away from a serious approach to telling this story, as it instead uses comedy and even blasphemy to reveal the truth behind the way religion is preached and religious stories are interpreted.
Fans and critics globally and for the past decade since its Broadway premiere in 2011 have received The Book of Mormon positively despite its tone, as despite being somewhat against orthodox teaching, and often satirical, it also comes with a heartfelt message to its viewers beneath its language. Throughout its two acts, the musical perfectly remolds itself from a play full of cursing, sex, and profanity to one that shares a deep message. In one of their reviews, The New York Times agrees with this thought and stated that “The central theme of The Book of Mormon is that many religious stories are silly – the idea that God would plant golden plates in upstate New York. Many religious doctrines are rigid and out of touch. But religion itself can do enormous good as long as people take religious teaching metaphorically and not literally.”
